WELCOME
The beautiful Moulin des Comtes is located among the green hills of the French Auvergne region. The property, with its very rich and interesting history, is owned by Rob & Annemie van der Elst, Dutch entrepreneurs with a passion for the television programme “Ik vertrek”, the Dutch equivalent to BBC’s “Living in the Sun”. They also took that leap of faith and left their lives in the Netherlands behind.
Bienvenue à Moulin des Comtes
Welcome to Moulin des Comtes
It is late in the afternoon when we arrive at Viverols, a beautiful valley in the Auvergne. This destination is becoming more and more popular and we immediately see why. The unspoilt nature around us radiates a wonderful sense of peace. This is still the real and authentic France. The houses we pass on our way to Le Moulin des Comtes are typical of the region. For us, it feels like we’re travelling back in time, and it’s good. Very good indeed.
After a few twists and turns over typically tiny French country roads, we arrive at the entrance of the ‘Lieu dit’, or literally translated: hamlet. The sign ‘Le Moulin des Comtes’ tells us that we have reached our destination. We turn into the driveway, our expectations are high. The ‘Mill of the Counts’ no longer exists, but this does not take from what we are seeing.
Le Moulin des Comtes in Viverols is incredibly picturesque. We are immediately struck by the tranquillity of the place, although we cannot yet grasp as to why this is. After a very warm welcome from Rob and Annemie, we enter a spacious and attractive holiday home.
Inside, there are some lovely surprises waiting for us: The wood burner is burning and a bottle of wine awaits our attention. We put down our bags and admire the gorgeous and fully equipped accommodation. We are definitely going to enjoy our stay here, that’s for sure. The view is stunning and a delicious meal, prepared by Rob and Annemie, awaits us in the fridge.
